Mountain Pro operates through partner organization Crested Butte Mountain Guides to deliver custom backcountry ski programs designed with your goals and experience in mind. Not only do we facilitate your ski experience, but also guide you through the often daunting process of backcountry equipment selection and preparation for your trip.

Typical Ski Itinerary

Before your tour(s): communicate directly with your guide about logistics, ski goals and equipment selection.

Day of tour(s): Your guide will do all the necessary research regarding snow stability and select a tour that suitable for the current avalanche hazard.  Guests will be briefed on what specific items to bring along on the tour (see our gear list).

830 am: Meet in town and travel to trailhead to begin our tour. Crested Butte is unique in that all of our tours begin a maximum of 10 minutes from the center of downtown. Short travel times = more powder skiing!

840-230pm: Our tours typically include several ascents in descents in the local backcountry. Objectives will be selected based on experience level, fitness levels of the group and most importantly safety and suitability of the terrain. Day tours vary and include everything from mellow powder skiing in perfectly spaced trees to steep alpine couloirs. Typical touring days include roughly 2000 – 5000 ft of vertical gain and loss.

230pm: Wrap up and de-issue equipment.
