Off to the Alps

Mar 31st, 2010 by Mountain Pro

Bags are packed and weighed for my Spring season in the Alps! I’m psyched on some last minute gear additions from Outdoor Research including the new Helium Jacket and the Ferrosi Hoody, I’m confident that their uber-lightweight gear won’t put me over the 50lb baggage weight limit. I can’t wait to melt faces with that “Pilsner” yellow Helium!!

Anyway, I have the dream itinerary lined up working with John Race of the Northwest Mountain School. I’m going to hit the ground running with a Haute Route starting April 4 followed by the Ortler Circuit in Italy and finally a week in Switzerland’s Berner Oberland! Hoepfully after completing those three classic itineraries I’ll have some time to explore some lines that I’ve been scouting out since the summer. But really I’m most excited to share my passion for high alpine ski mountaineering with some new friends! If all else fails, I can look forward to some bolt clipping in the Italian Riviera.

Packing my ski gear had me nostalgic about this past season in CO; so many great days in the Crested Butte backcountry I thought I’d share a quick gallery of some of my Colorado season.

There you have it, steep lines, good snow and great friends. Thanks to everyone who helped make the ‘09/’10 Colorado season so special…

I’ll be updating regularly with the Euro goodness here and on my twitter page. Stop in and see what’s developing!

Great trip on the Haute Route. Looking forward to “burning some faces” when you get up here in Sept.

Hope your other treks are going well.

Also: we got stuck in Paris for an extra 3 days… it was really rough. :-)

    Hey Adam,

I heard about your extended delay in Paris. I’m sure it was horrible. We had a great trip on the Ortler Circuit, but our group for the Berner Oberland got fully hosed by the Ash cloud. I’m back in Chamonix enjoying a little down time and some personal skiing…

Anyway, thanks for a great trip. Yes, we will surely “melt faces” (whatever that means) when I get to the NW in September.

  • Nice sport climbing session in the Mazama rain... Hoping to get the bad weather out of the way before the alpine exam.
